Appleton again ranked one of the top cities to live in
Appleton ranked 48th by 24/7 Wall St. study
When it comes to great places to live, Appleton has been mentioned among the best of the best for several years running. The website 24/7 Wall St. has planted a flag in Appleton again as one of the top 50 cities to live in, ranking us 48th.
According to the website, "Appleton is home to far more schools and cultural amenities per capita than most city in the country. There are approximately seven colleges and universities — including Lawrence University — per 100,000 residents."
The website notes one third of Appleton residents have at least a bachelor's degree. But it's not just educational and cultural opportunities that make Appleton a desirable place. The website also said, "Appleton also boasts well over two times the concentration of restaurants, bars, fitness and recreation centers, and movie theatres than is typical nationwide."
"We have a little bit of everything that you can find in larger cities with the affordability of small communities," said Mayor Tim Hanna. "Couple those opportunities with the people that call Appleton home and we have one of the most unique communities in the country."
Appleton was also rated highly for affordable housing. Appleton has median home values of $143,000. Walkability was the other area where Appleton scored highly. With more than 440 miles of sidewalks, the website estimated Appleton residents commute by walking at nearly double the national average.
